Used bike price by engine capacity (BDT)

Engine capacity sets the band; brand, mileage and paperwork decide where inside the band a bike lands. Bikes with complete, up-to-date papers consistently sell for ৳15,000–25,000 more than identical bikes with lapsed documents.

Typical accepted price for a 3–6 year old bike with valid papers.

Mileage matters less in Bangladesh than service history. A 40,000km bike with stamped servicing and original engine internals sells above a 20,000km bike that has been opened by a roadside mechanic.

Paperwork checklist — do not skip any line

    1. Registration certificate (blue book) in the seller's own name, matched against their NID.
    2. Valid tax token and fitness certificate — check the expiry date, not just that the paper exists.
    3. Insurance status, and whether any traffic case is outstanding against the registration number.
    4. Chassis and engine numbers physically matching the blue book — bring a torch and check both.
    5. Ownership transfer at the BRTA office: budget ৳3,000–8,000 in fees depending on CC, and never accept 'I will transfer later'.

    Unregistered or 'papers lost' bikes

A bike sold without a blue book cannot be legally transferred to you and may be stolen. No discount justifies it. Walk away and report the ad — resale.bd suppresses ads that fail this check.

    Before you pay anyone

Never send advance money, bKash 'booking fees' or courier charges to a seller you have not met. Every resale.bd ad is scored by AI Scam Shield and high-risk ads are suppressed, but the safest deal is still cash-on-inspection in a public place.

    Ten-minute mechanical inspection

    • Cold start: listen for tapping in the top end and check for blue smoke.
    • Chain slack, sprocket teeth and tyre date codes — all three are cheap tells of neglect.
    • Fork seals for oil weep, and rear shock rebound with a hard push.
    • Brake feel front and rear, plus disc thickness if it has one.
    • Ride it at least 2km, including one hard brake and one full-throttle pull through the gears.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the price of a used bike in Bangladesh?
A 100–110cc commuter in good condition sells for ৳62,000–85,000, a 150cc standard for ৳1,10,000–1,55,000, and a 150–165cc sports bike for ৳1,60,000–2,45,000, assuming valid papers.
Which used bike is best for daily commuting in Bangladesh?
125cc commuters — Honda Shine, Discover 125, Hero Glamour — give the best balance of fuel economy, parts availability in every district and resale demand. Parts availability matters more than peak power on Bangladeshi roads.
How much does BRTA ownership transfer cost?
Roughly ৳3,000–8,000 depending on engine capacity and how long the transfer is delayed. Do it at handover: an untransferred bike leaves the legal owner liable for your traffic cases and vice versa.
Is buying a bike without a blue book ever safe?
No. Without the registration certificate the bike cannot be transferred, cannot be insured in your name and may be stolen property. Treat 'papers lost' as a hard stop.
Where can I sell my used bike in Bangladesh?
List it free on resale.bd with photos of the odometer and the blue book. Ads that show paperwork up front sell noticeably faster than ads that only show the bike.
